Medium density fiberboard
MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) is a man-made board /artifical board made from wood fibers (such as wood leftovers, sawdust, etc.) mixed with synthetic resins (such as urea formaldehyde or phenolic resin), which is made by hot pressing at high temperature and pressure
Features of MDF:
1. Moderate density: The density is usually between 600-800 kg/m³, between high density board (HDF) and low density board (LDF).
2. Smooth surface: The surface is smooth and fine, suitable for direct coating, painting or laminating.
3. Good processing performance: Easy to cut, drill, carve and mill, suitable for making furniture and decorations with complex shapes.
4. High stability: not easy to deformation, cracking, with good dimensional stability.
5. Environmental protection: Use wood residues as raw materials to reduce resource waste, and some products meet environmental standards (such as E1, E0).

Now let us see each production step one by one
Raw Materials:
Use wood based product wastes (such as sawdust, wood chips, shavings, etc.) as raw materials.
Raw materials are cleaned and screened to remove impurities
Defibration:
The raw wood is separated into fibers by a hot mill /defibrator
Synthetic resins (such as urea-formaldehyde resins) are added as adhesives during fiber separation.
Screening:
Vibrating screen is used for screening and grading shavings to ensure the dimensional uniformity of shavings, thereby improving the quality of the particleboard
Drying:
The fiber is sent to the dryer to remove excess water, so that its moisture content is controlled at 8%-12%. The dryer can be different length and diameter as your production capacity
Resin gluing:
Evenly applying the glue on wood shavings and fibers
Forming:
The dried fibers are evenly paved into slabs by the laying machine. Control the distribution and thickness of fibers during paving
Pre-press:
The paved slab is sent to the prepress for preliminary compression to make it preliminary formed
Hot press:
The prepressed slab is sent to a multi-layer hot press and hot-pressed under high temperature (180-200°C) and high pressure (20-30MPa). The hot pressing time is usually 2-10 minutes, the specific time is adjusted according to the thickness of the plate
Edge cutting:
The hot pressed sheet is cooled to bring its temperature down to room temperature. The edger cuts the sheet to standard size
Sanding:
Sanding machine is used to sand the surface of the MDF panel to make its surface smooth and flat.
Quality inspection and packaging:
Quality inspection of finished products, including thickness, density, strength, moisture content and other indicators.
Packaging, storage or delivery of qualified products
