Oriented particle board (OSB) is a high-strength engineered wood board made of oriented wood chips hot-pressed with a synthetic resin adhesive. Compared with ordinary particle board, OSB has better mechanical properties and moisture resistance, and is widely used in building structures, furniture manufacturing, packaging and other fields
The high-strength wood chips are arranged in a directional manner (the surface layer is longitudinal, the core layer is transverse), and the bending and compressive properties are close to those of plywood.
Good moisture resistance phenolic resin (PF adhesive) or MDI adhesive, some models (OSB/3, OSB/4) can be long-term moisture resistance
Dimensional stability is not easy to deformation and cracking, suitable for large-span structure applications
Environmental protection can use aldehyde-free adhesive (such as MDI), in line with ENF level (formaldehyde release ≤0.025mg/m³).
The economy is 20%~30% lower than the cost of plywood, but the performance is close

Wood: Fast growing trees (pine, poplar, eucalyptus) peeled and sliced into 50~100mm long, 0.5~0.7mm thick wood pieces.
Adhesive: phenolic resin (PF) or MDI adhesive (no aldehyde).
- Directional forming
The surface wood chips are arranged longitudinally (for increased bending strength) and the core wood chips are arranged laterally (for improved compression and dimensional stability).
- Hot pressing
High temperature (200~220℃) high pressure (3~5MPa) pressing, so that the wood chips and adhesive curing combination.
- Post-processing
Edging, sanding (some OSB surfaces are coated or coated to enhance moisture resistance)
Building structure roof lining, wall skeleton, floor base (instead of plywood)
Interior decoration wall lining board, ceiling, custom furniture skeleton (need surface leather or spray paint)
Heavy duty packing boxes, pallets, container floors (moisture resistant and load-bearing)
Other uses exhibition stands, temporary houses, agricultural greenhouses skeleton
High structural strength: directional arrangement process makes its bending and compressive properties better than ordinary particle board.
Moisture-proof durability: OSB/3 and above models can resist short-term blisters, suitable for bathrooms, external walls and other humid environments.
Cost-effective: Performance is close to plywood, but the price is lower.
Sustainability: Use fast-growing forests or small trees to reduce resource waste.
✖ Disadvantages
Rough surface: It needs to be veneered or coated before it can be used directly on visible parts (such as furniture surfaces).
Cutting easy burr edge: Use sharp saw blade when processing, otherwise the edge is easy to break stubble.
Larger weight: higher density than ordinary particleboard (about 650kg/m³), more laborious handling

Choose OSB/3 or OSB/4 (moisture-proof load bearing) for building structure, and choose OSB/2 for general use.
Check environmental certification
For indoor use, CARB P2 and ENF grade (no aldehyde glue) are preferred to avoid excessive formaldehyde release.

The wood chips are arranged clearly, without empty drums, and the edges are dense and not loose
