- As Raw materials:
Wood particleboard (mainstream) : pine, poplar, eucalyptus and other wood processing leftovers, high strength.
Non-wood particleboard: made of agricultural residues such as rice husk, wheat straw and bagasse, more environmentally friendly but less strong
- As Density:
Low Density: 400-600kg/m3, for packing, deadening materials
Middel Density: 600-800kg/m3, for common furniture, decoration
High Density: 800-900kg/m3, for strength floor substrate, Load-bearing furniture
- As Adhesive:
Ordinary particle board (E2/E1 grade) : urea-formaldehyde resin (UF glue), low price, but containing formaldehyde.
Moisture-proof particleboard (E0 grade) : phenolic resin (PF glue), good water resistance.
Aldehyde-free particleboard (ENF grade) : MDI glue or soy glue, environmentally friendly but costly.
Furniture manufacturing: cabinets, wardrobes, desks, bed boards, etc. (usually covered with leather or spray paint)
Building decoration: floor substrate, partition panel, ceiling (moisture-proof type can be used for bathroom, kitchen)
Packaging industry: pallets, boxes (low cost, customizable)
Other uses: speaker box, exhibition props, DIY handmade materials, etc✔ Advantages
Low price: more economical than plywood and density board.
Environmental protection (part) : Waste wood and agricultural residues can be used to reduce resource waste.
Good processability: easy to cut, drilling, suitable for mass production
✖ Disadvantages
Moisture resistance: ordinary particleboard is easy to expand when exposed to water, and needs to be treated with moisture.
Poor grip force: the screw is easy to loosen, not suitable for frequent disassembly.
Formaldehyde problem: Ordinary urea-formaldehyde rubber plate may release formaldehyde, you need to choose E0 or ENF grade products
Look at the environmental protection level: E0 grade (≤0.05mg/m³) or ENF grade (≤0.025mg/m³) is preferred.
Check density: high-density board (≥750kg/m³) is more durable, and low-density board is easy to deform.
Observation surface: flat without empty drum, edge compact without loose particles.
Moisture-proof requirement: Select phenolic glue or MDI glue particleboard in humid environment.
