Do you know what is the Function of Mat forming for OSB production? and How the OSB mat forming works?
Paving head /Forming heads :
- Oscillating paving head: evenly distribute shavings by reciprocating motion.
- Star roller paving head: The grooves on the rotating roller are oriented shavings.
- Layered paving system: The multi-layer paving head successively covers the surface and core layers, usually 3 layers (table-core-table) or 5 layers (table-core-table-core-table).
- Metering system: Shavings flow is controlled by belt scales or sensors to ensure consistent thickness and density of each layer.
Pavement head quantity and layered structure
- 3-layer structure (surface- core - surface) : Generally requires 2 to 3 paving heads (1 surface layer, 1 core layer, or special paving heads respectively cover the upper and lower surface layer).
- 5-layer structure (surface-core-surface-core-surface) : 3 to 5 paving heads may be required, each layer is independently controlled.
- Multi-layer structure: High-end production lines may use more paving heads to achieve finer mechanical property control.
Paving line workflow Example (Using Layer 3 OSB as an example)
First paving head (surface) :
The directional paving head arranges the shavings lengthwise to form the lower directional layer.
Second paving head (core layer) :
Random paving head transverse or disordered paving to form a core layer.
Third paving head (surface) :
The directional paving head is again paved lengthwise to form the upper directional layer.
Post-paving treatment:
The slab is initially compacted by prepress, and then cured by hot press after trimming.
